Causal Worlds 2026 will take place in Grenoble, France, at the gateway to the French Alps and just over an hour from Lyon. The conference will be held on the University Campus, easily accessible by tram from the city centre. More information on the venue will come shortly!

Travel

By plane

The nearest major airport is Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport, located 90 km from Grenoble. The easiest way to get to Grenoble from Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport is to use one of the regular bus services:

The journey from the airport to Grenoble bus station takes approximately 1 hour and 5 minutes. It is also possible to get take a TGV train, but these are no quicker, less regular, and often more expensive.

Another option is to fly to Geneva airport. There are also regular bus services from there to Grenoble.

By train

Grenoble is reachable by train on the French rail network SNCF. SNCF offers several direct TGV trains per day to Grenoble from Paris and other cities. You can book your tickets on the SNCF website. There are also regular regional TER trains to Lyon, Geneva and Valence, which are further connected with the TGV and international train networks.

Public transport in Grenoble

Grenoble has an efficient tram and bus network. Tickets can be purchased on the tram stops, or you can tap directly your bank card. Please note that tickets must be validated prior to boarding trams, or upon boarding buses.

The closest tram stop to the conference venue is “Gabriel Fauré”, served by two tram lines:

  • Tram B: “direction Gières Plaine des sports”,
  • Tram C: direction “Saint-Martin-d’Hères Condillac Universités”,

and is 10-15 minutes transport from the city centre.
